This latest version of simplyMepis included the brand new KDE 4 desktop environment, giving it a newer look, along with newly redesigned applications.
Ubuntu Server 10.04 Lucid Lynx
The 10.04 release of Ubuntu Server is a Long Term Support (LTS) release, meaning that there are 5 years worth of support and updates available from release date. As usual it is a very basic distro, but the power of the Linux command line means that it is easily customisable to a huge range of specific needs.
Xubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx
The "Lucid Lynx" release of Xubuntu was a Long-term Support release, meaning that there would be 3 years of support and updates provided. It contains up to date software whilst remaining relatively lightweight, ideal for use on lower-spec computers.
Ubuntu Studio 10.04 Lucid Lynx
Despite being based on the latest 10.04 release of Ubuntu Desktop, there is still no graphical installer. Despite this once installed everything is up-to-date. It has a kernel optimised to reduce latency in audio applications; allowing for them to have priority of CPU time.
Ubuntu Netbook 10.04 Lucid Lynx
This was the first version to adopt the new name of "Ubuntu Netbook Edition", prior versions were known as "Ubuntu Netbook Remix". It contains all of the updates and improvements of the normal Ubuntu release, but with the advantage of the interface which is optimised for smaller Netbook screens.
Knoppix 6.2.1
In version 6 Knoppix switched from KDE to LXDE as the desktop environment, this is a much more lightweight environment enabling it to keep up with its reputation of being a small and fast distro. Despite this it still contains almost all of the software you would see on a much bigger distro, such as OpenOffice and GIMP
Slax 6
Slax 6 was the first version to be offered as a single download, with all customisation available by downloading the required "modules". Prior to this there were several editions of Slax released, each with specific customisations in mind.
